The attorneys in our Estate Planning Practice Group provide counsel on all aspects of estate planning, including trust formation, charitable planning and trust and estate administration to individuals and families. In devising creative, appropriate and cost-effective plans to meet our clients’ unique estate planning goals, we draw upon not only our understanding of the laws governing estates and trusts, but also our extensive experience in dealing with issues of taxation, wealth transfer techniques, business transactions, and charitable planning.
The range of matters in which we have represented clients include preparing inter vivos revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, and related documents. We have substantial expertise pursuing sophisticated wealth transfer techniques, including grantor retained annuity trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and sales to grantor trusts, and have helped clients meet long-term investment and business goals through formation of limited partnerships and limited liability companies. We also assist clients with life insurance planning, enabling clients to protect life insurance proceeds from estate taxes through the use of irrevocable trusts.
Our attorneys provide estate administration services in both probate and non-probate settings for large, complex estates; advise clients with respect to charitable giving both during the client’s life and by testamentary bequest (including assisting clients in creating tax-exempt private foundations and similar charitable entities); draft and negotiate premarital and postmarital agreements; and team with our litigation attorneys to represent clients in probate and trust litigation matters.
We also apply our expertise on trust matters and charitable issues on behalf of public charities, private foundations, banks and trust companies.
